Renewables developer Swift Current Energy will build a 402 MW solar farm on 2,700 acres of former coal mining land near the shuttered Homer City coal plant.

Construction is expected to start this summer, with operations starting in 2026. The project will be capable of powering 75,000 homes. It will also create over 750 construction jobs and provide millions in annual tax revenue locally.

“The land really isn’t in much use,” John Sobel, a Clearfield County commissioner, commented. “Now it’s going to be used again for the production of energy, which is obviously always a need in this country. So I think that’s kind of exciting.”

It will create 750 construction jobs, which will basically be temporary Then again the heat generated by the solar panels will resonate up from the ground, destroying the land under it and creating other weather problems

Color me shocked when this turns out to be a total flop.
